What exactly are we trying to prove by this vote of confidence, I wonder. There are people who support the nuclear deal, but won't vote for the government because they are the opposition! Then there are people who are against the deal but will vote because they will get some money, or some ministerial post after the vote!
Looks like the MPs are more interested in themselves and their fat pockets rather than the welfare of the nation.
Look at the long list of people who would like to be PMs. Lalu, Mayawati, Deva Gowda(?), Pawar............ Who would you like at the top??????
Personally, I don't know how much the nuclear deal will help us beyond getting us into the good books of the Americans. Now that their government is also set to change, how good that can be we cannot say.
We have so much of sunshine all over and a lot of wind blowing. We have a huge coastline, so why don't we think of tappping all this energy instead of going in for the nuclear stuff. After all disposal of nuclear waste is another area of concern. Instead of making Solar Panels affordable and cheap, making windmills available at a rate that the middle class can afford, we are thinking in terms of limited resources like Uranium and other radio active material. Do people know how dangerous this can be?
Anyway, hope common sense prevails and in the future we do have stable goverrnments which do not have to prove themselves every now and then. And also hoping that in future the concerns of the nation is given preference over holding on to power at the centre.
