Some one sent me this item saying that our National anthem was voted the best by UNESCO and the bottom line was that we are proud to be indians!!!!!!
How many years ago was this National Anthem written? This generation takes credit for the anthem and says they are proud. Look at the state of the country.
Why just look around when the National Anthem is being played!!!!!! Does anyone stand to attention any more. We have made it an object of ridicule by just making it compulsory at all and sundry events. And we think that we are patriotic by just playing the anthem!!!!!!!
I suppose when it is played it should evoke a sense of pride and honour, but then does it? Well most people do not even know what the Anthem means!!!!!! How are they going to honour and take pride in it?
And forgetting the Anthem for a while . Just look around ourselves for a moment and observe. What is there to be proud of? The Pan stains on the road side and the walls? the men urinating on the sides of the streets? the greedy cop putting his hand out in anticipation of a few hundred rupees? the politician who is more worried about his seat than the people who voted for him? Are these signs of a progressing nation? Are these the things that make us a proud of our country?
anyway, hope lies in the form of generation next. Hope we learn a few lessons from our mistakes and achieve something not only for ourselves as a country but something that benefits all living things.
Then and only then can we lift our heads up, hold it high and say I am Proud to Be an Indian ( or rather Proud to be a homo sapien sapien!)
